The UKS2 National Curriculum statutory content for Year 6 is arranged below in short mathematical topic blocks over the year. Each block is divided into units. Each unit is focussed around one or two specific skills within that topic. Hamilton recommend this as a pedagogically progressive route through the longer blocks.
Specifically, we provide:
Autumn Term: 73 days teaching;
Spring Term: 45 days teaching across six short blocks. Many units in these blocks are accompanied by new SATs-style questions: look out for Y6 SATs Practice, an additional 'You Will Need' download. A compilation of all these questions is available via the button on the right;
Spring and Summer Term: Two complete Revision Menus for you to choose from. Our 'FLEXIBLE BLOCKS' provide the same menus of revision teaching.
As teachers, we understand the challenge of balancing teaching with Revision - please read our ‘Planning Guidance’.
You can navigate to the longer flexible blocks by selecting your year group on the red bar above or use the button on the right to find our older, weekly plans.
Extra Support worksheets come with guidance for a teacher or TA working with small groups. They can make a significant difference to children working below ARE. Extra support is linked to individual objectives-based units, but you can also explore a set for a whole year.
Procedural fluency is fundamental to numeracy, and Hamilton's practice worksheets are carefully differentiated for children working toward Age Related Expectations (ARE), at ARE and at greater depth. Practice is linked to individual objectives-based units, but you can also explore sets of worksheets for the whole year.
