Session 1 The Quran

Objectives

Session 2 The Kabaah and the Hajj

Objectives

History

  • To know about the Hajj.
  • To know about the history of the Kaaba in Mecca.

What can learn about the Hajj and the history of the Kaaba?

Outcomes
Children will:

  • Evaluate the evidence associated with the history of the Kaaba in Mecca.
  • Plan and build a model building.

Session 3 Eid al-Adha

Objectives

History

  • To understand what the festival of Eid al-Adha commemorates and how it is celebrated.
  • To explore when world religions were established and how they have some stories in common.

What can we learn about the festival of Eid al-Adha?

Outcomes
Children will:

  • Learn about the festival of Eid al-Adha.
  • Order world religions by date of creation and consider how one religion could influence another.
  • Discuss the role of charity and sacrifice in world religions.

Session 4 Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr

Objectives

History

  • To know what Ramadan is and why people fast during this time.
  • To learn how Eid al-Fitr is celebrated.
  • To cook and share foods associated with Eid al-Fitr.

What can we learn about the history of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr?

Outcomes
Children will:

  • Learn about Ramadan and discuss the reason for fasting in Islam.
  • Follow recipes to cook a selection of traditional Eid foods.
