Reception Maths

Athene Reiss By Athene Reiss

Hamilton are developing maths blocks for Reception based on the new 2019 Early Learning Goals.

These new maths blocks will be available from September for the year 2019-20 and will cover the 2019 Early Learning Goals.

These new Early Learning Goals are currently being piloted by the Government. Once they are finalised, Hamilton will promptly finalise our own plans for the structure and content of our new Reception blocks, so that you can have the most up-to-date planning possible for September.

Reception Weekly Maths Plans

The weekly plans cover the 2012 Early Years Curriculum. The Coverage Chart shows you where. The Medium Term Plan lists weekly objectives, EYFS development matters and Hamilton Assessment Tracker outcomes. The Outcomes Sheet allows you to record quick day-to-day judgements about children's mastery of objectives in the back of their maths books.

Our new Reception blocks will gradually replace these plans, as they will offer all the advantages of weekly plans and more.

Investigative Maths Activities for Reception and Early Years

Hamilton's open-ended investigative activities provide a fun, stimulating context in which children can begin to develop their ability to connect previous knowledge with new situations, to develop flexibility and creativity, and to reason mathematically and think creatively.

These open-ended investigations for Reception or Early Years settings are designed to take advantage of outdoor learning environments, but many of them can be adapted to run inside.
