Objectives

History

  • Develop an awareness of the past, through finding out about changes within living memory and to develop an awareness of the lives of significant individuals in the past who have contributed to national and international achievements.
  • Learn about events beyond living memory that are significant nationally.
  • Develop some understanding of chronology.
  • Begin to use vocabulary associated with the past.

English

  • Give well-structured descriptions, explanations and narratives for different purposes, including for expressing feelings.
  • Participate in discussions, presentations, performances, role play, improvisations and debates.

Lesson Planning

What would life have been like for Shakespeare? Learn about Tudor life and explore the developments of life since Tudor times by sorting images from life then & now.

Teaching Outcomes
To find out about Shakespeare’s life and compare it to their own.
To discuss changes in the way of life since Tudor times.

Children will:

  • Identify some of the differences between life for children in Tudor times and their own lives now.
  • Think about what Shakespeare’s life would have been like.
