  1. Share and enjoy Do you like? looking at illustrations.
  2. Reread Do you like? encouraging children to join in with reading.
  3. Introduce It’s Okay to be Different. Read the 1st half of the book, up to ‘It’s okay to say no to bad things’. While reading, pause to discuss specific children’s experiences.
  4. Look at the 2nd half of It’s Okay to be Different. Use the last page to prompt discussion.

Poetry/Rhyme of the Week: Can you walk on tiptoe? / I really want to be a cat
Introduce on Monday (send copies home). Rehearse; develop performance; add actions!

  2. Read The Great Big Book of Families up to ‘Holidays’. Pause to discuss each page. Then turn back to ‘spreads’ 2 & 3.
  3. Read rest of The Great Big Book of Families and discuss each page.
  4. Look through The Great Big Book of Families. Pause at the last page. Point out that we learned last week that each child is special and now we see that each family is special too.
  5. Re-read Peace at Last encouraging children to join in.

Poetry/Rhyme of the Week: I have a little brother
