Each Building Numeracy unit contains a week’s worth of teaching for students who need to build their understanding of numeracy. Every aspect of numeracy is explicitly explained, so they can be taught by a teacher or a TA. It will take 2 terms to get through all the material, or select the units relevant to your students.

Units consist of three complete sessions plus homework. These sessions provide all you need to teach students who have currently not mastered this numeracy topic, e.g. place value. The teaching and activities are outlined in a word document and the teaching is structured through a PowerPoint presentation to use with the students. The homework activities consolidate the learning. It is envisaged that these three sessions comprise one week’s work for these students, at the end of which, they should have mastered the topic.
