The 7th March is World Book Day. Lead up to this with a different story every day from our fantastic selection.
Make the most of this week with our fantastic storytelling resources. Spend half an hour with your class watching and discussing one of our fab storytelling videos or take the plunge into one of our English blocks all about traditional oral stories!
Oral storytelling is one of the most ancient artforms, and continues to this day as a vibrant part of culture throughout the world.
The Society for Storytelling
We have fabulous storytelling videos for all age ranges. Watch captivating storyteller Adele Moss tell the traditional story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves below, or explore all of our storytelling videos on YouTube.
Our Year 1 English Block about sharing and retelling traditional tales and fables allows children to practice telling great stories. Watch a fantastic oral telling of Dragon/Dinosaur and use this to compare oral and written storytelling, discuss features of great storytelling, and perform their own version of The House that Jack Built.
Meanwhile, our Year 2 English Block about traditional tales from other cultures gets children watching and telling the stories of Baba Yaga and Hansel and Gretel.
Use our lower key stage 2 topic block about Art and Culture in Anglo-Saxon times to learn about the importance of storytelling in Anglo-Saxon culture and discuss how oral stories changed over time.
