Geography

  • Understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region of the United Kingdom and another region.
  • Describe and understand key aspects of human geography, including: types of settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links, and the distribution of natural resources including energy, food, minerals and water.

Lesson Planning

Learn more about the challenging life of a child living in the upper reaches of the Himalayas.

Teaching Outcomes:

  • To further consider similarities and differences between your life and the lives of children living in the Kumaon region, and begin to consider why some things are so different.

Children will:

  • Learn about life in the upper reaches of the Himalayas.
  • Think about isolation and employment and access to water and electricity.
  • Consider a day in the life of a Kumaoni child and compare it to their lives.
