The demise of Flash and some transformed resources

Ruth Merttens By Ruth Merttens

Engaging multimedia resources formerly hosted on Hamilton Player are now available below. These include English Animated Tales, Storytelling videos, Poetry performances, Maths ITPs and everyday maths images.

It is no longer possible to play Flash movies and so resources which relied upon this software are no longer viable. Hamilton is working hard to re-build most of our Flash resources using PowerPoint presentations, videos on YouTube or simple PDFs. We are running behind with this, because of prioritising Lockdown resources over the last ten months, but the work is ongoing and increasing in speed.

Over the next six months, every Hamilton resource which is referenced in materials on the site will be available in one of these alternative formats.

These are storytelling and reading materials useful for kickstarting a range of teaching. Those below are used in the Blocks of English teaching materials.

  1. PowerPoint Presentations of magical tales, classical and traditional poems and information texts for children to watch and listen to, or practise reading aloud.
  2. Animated Tales as Videos on YouTube which allow you to share an illustrated and animated text with the whole class or a small group.
  3. Storytelling videos to encourage listening skills – exciting stories told by expert and professional storytellers.
  4. Poems performed by their authors to demonstrate the power of poetry as performed to an audience.

Any resources which used to be on the Hamilton Player site but which are not listed, are not included in the Blocks and so we currently have no plans to update these. Please email our Enquiries Desk if this causes a problem to you.
