Extra Intervention Support in Maths
Each week, inevitably, there are some children who are unable to succeed on the age-related expected objectives. So, Hamilton is providing two extra support activities a week for every whole year group. These can be done by a Teaching Assistant with a small group of children. The activities come with child instructions as well as a detailed but simple bullet-pointed lesson outline for the TA. These intervention activities, if used consistently as you go along, have the potential to make a lot of difference to the children who are below ARE.
Hamilton's extra support activities are now available for Autumn term for all single year groups.
There are two activities a week to take you through Autumn half-term; look out for more as the year continues. Hamilton will stay at least half a term ahead through the school year, and there will be a complete set available on our website by Easter. Here's what a Y3/4 teacher in Norwich had to say about the extra support materials:
'I have just opened your latest newsletter and seen the excellent Intervention materials. I can't thank you enough for these. We need to prepare Progression Plans for PP or LA children and the old DfE materials were not accessible for Teaching Assistants without time and explanation from us. I can only feel these will be not only time-saving for teachers, but great fun learning opportunities. I hope we can keep renewing our subscription with yourselves, even with budget cuts!'
Have a look for yourself - use the links above, or go to your year group and navigate to Autumn Term to find 'Extra support' at the top of the left hand column.
