'I did it in my head!' Wales, Spring 2017

How do we get numerically fluent children who enjoy mathematics?

This session outlines four key strategies which enable teachers to engender mental agility with numbers as well as a deeper understanding of mathematical operations and concepts.

Starting with a brief look at the theory behind the development of skills and meta-skills, Professor Merttens relates this to the practical application of pedagogy in the classroom, and to a whole school approach which can literally transform mathematical learning.

There are two sessions taking place in the Spring Term:

  • On Thursday 9th March Ruth will be at Cwmclydach Primary School in Clydach Vale, Rhondda Cynon Taff (CF40 2BQ) at 4.00 - 5.30pm, arrival and refreshments from 3.45pm

The session is of immediate interest to all primary teachers and particularly primary maths co-ordinators or those in senior management positions.  It is FREE and open to all teachers.

It is essential to book a place and spaces are available on a ‘first-come, first served’ basis. Please contact diana@hamilton-trust.org.uk to book a place.
