This session outlines four key strategies which enable teachers to engender mental agility with numbers as well as a deeper understanding of mathematical operations and concepts.
Starting with a brief look at the theory behind the development of skills and meta-skills, Professor Merttens relates this to the practical application of pedagogy in the classroom, and to a whole school approach which can literally transform mathematical learning.
