Consistency in Models and Images
Have you ever wished that Ruth Merttens would run a maths-focused staff meeting at your school? Well, now's your chance to deliver one of her staff events yourself, under her guidance. Hamilton has put together a set of downloadable, adaptable materials to support you in putting your teachers on track for delivering consistent maths teaching across your school.
We provide everything you need to run a successful staff meeting, including substantial notes for the person running the meeting explaining both the background context and the value of having a developmental approach to models and images, layout and patter. A PowerPoint presentation will guide the meeting, and we also include three activity prompts to help you draw out all the models and images used across your school and see where you can make improvements.
Find the Staff Meetings by going to 'Teacher Support' in the top navigation and then clicking on Staff Meetings in the left-hand navigation. Alternatively, click here: Staff Meetings: School-wide maths training.
We would love to hear what you think about these materials and any sessions you run using them. Your feedback will help us improve this and future sessions. We will send a set of 3 x 1-100 grids and 3 x multiplication grids to any school that contributes feedback before the Easter break. Email firstname.lastname@example.org
We will be adding resources for other Staff Meetings over the coming months.
