History

  • Continue to develop a chronologically secure knowledge and understanding of Britain, local and world history, establishing clear narratives within and across the periods they study.
  • Conduct a local history study of an aspect of history from a period beyond 1066 that is significant to the local area.
  • Understand how our knowledge of the past is constructed from a range of sources.

Lesson Planning

Children build up a picture of one or more local Victorian families using information from the 1841 census.

Children will:

  • Work on 1841 census extract and investigate who lived in the local area in 1841; what were their jobs? What were typical names?

  • Optional: Example blank form from modern census.
