- Y2 combine amounts to make a particular value.
- Y2 solve simple problems in a practical context involving addition and subtraction of money of the same unit, including giving change.
Number and place value
- Y1 count, read and write numbers to 100 in numerals; count in multiples of 2s, 5s and 10s
- Y2 count in steps of 2, 3, and 5 from 0, and in 10s from any number, forward and backward.
- Y2 Recognise the place value of each digit in a two-digit number (10s, 1s).

- Role-play shop(s)
- Price tags
- Plastic play money
- Purses or tubs (enough for each child to have a container each, pre-prepare beforehand with coins needed)
