Objectives

Maths

  • Use place value and number facts to solve problems.
  • Choose and use appropriate standard units to estimate and measure mass (kg/g); to the nearest appropriate unit, using scales.
  • Compare, describe and solve practical problems for: mass/weight
  • Recognise, find, name and write fractions of a quantity.

Design and Technology

  • Use the basic principles of a healthy and varied diet to prepare dishes.

Lesson Planning

Children will:

  • Practice and consolidate their number and place value skills whilst measuring ingredients to bake cookies.
  • Recognize and consolidate whole, half and quarter of an object and a quantity whilst baking.
  • Measure mass (in kg and g) and experience heavier than and lighter than by comparing ingredients.
  • Solve problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division plenary.
