Objectives

Maths

  • Sequence events in chronological order using language.
  • Recognise and use language relating to dates, including days of the week, weeks, months, years.
  • Interpret and construct simple pictograms, tally charts, block diagrams and simple tables.
  • Ask and answer simple questions by counting the number of objects in each category and sorting the categories by quantity.
  • Ask and answer questions about totalling and comparing categorical data.

Lesson Planning

Block graphs help consolidate the days of the week, while maintaining the theme of 'How did you come to school today?'.

Children will:

  • Consolidate data representation as a block diagram.
  • Know by heart the days of the week in correct sequential order.
