Maths

  • Sequence events in chronological order using language.
  • Recognise and use language relating to dates, including days of the week, weeks, months, years.
  • Interpret and construct simple pictograms, tally charts, block diagrams and simple tables.
  • Ask and answer simple questions by counting the number of objects in each category and sorting the categories by quantity.
  • Ask and answer questions about totalling and comparing categorical data.

Lesson Planning

Make 'How did you come to school today' block diagram.

Children will:

  • Begin to think about grouping data to assemble a block diagram.
  • Begin to use correct data handling vocabulary.
  • Say the days of the week in correct sequential order.

You Will Need

  • Independent task with the caption: How did you come to school today?
  • Empty container for each possible mode of transport
  • Duplo blocks or similar
  • Class list of names and pens
