Objectives

Science

  • Practical scientific methods, processes and skills: Asking simple questions and recognizing that they can be answered in different ways.
  • Observing closely, using simple equipment.
  • Performing simple tests.
  • Identifying and classifying.
  • Using their observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions
  • Gathering and recording data to help in answering questions.
  • Describe the importance for humans of exercise, eating the right amounts of different types of food, and hygiene.

PE

  • Master basic movements, develop balance, agility and co-ordination and begin to apply in a range of activities.

Art and Design

  • Use drawing, painting and sculpture to develop and share their ideas, experiences and imagination.

Music

  • Use their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes.

Lesson Planning

Today we are going to find out about keeping our bodies fit and healthy.

Children will:

  • Find out facts about exercise and keeping fit and healthy.
  • Create a series of practical ideas for keeping fit; fitness trail; challenges; gardening fun; making kites to fly.

  • Resources to create block graph
  • class list of names
  • clip board for each child
  • large squared paper
  • A3 paper
  • Spades, trowels, small pots, seeds, compost
  • Small PE games equipment - hoops, balls, ropes
  • Resources for making kites
