Objectives

Design and Technology

  • Generate, develop, model and communicate their ideas through discussion, annotated sketches, cross-sectional and exploded diagrams, prototypes, pattern pieces and computer-aided design.
  • Evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work.

English

  • Write for a range of real purposes and audiences as part of their work across the curriculum.
  • Discuss what they are learning and to develop their wider skills in spoken language.

Lesson Planning

Evaluate your design choices, your fashion influences and your technical expertise; write a catwalk commentary for your outfit.

Teaching Outcomes:

  • Communicate ideas through discussion with others and to evaluate their ideas throughout the design and make process.

Children will:

  • Discuss with their partner the design choices they made and why.
  • Consider what influenced them when they chose their final design.
  • Jot down the creative, technical and practical expertise they used when making their outfit.
  • Write the catwalk commentary for their outfit in the style of traditional fashion commentaries.
  • Evaluate if they have successfully achieved the design brief.
