Objectives

Design and Technology

  • Develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks accurately.
  • Select from and use a wider range of materials and components, including textiles, according to their functional properties and aesthetic qualities.

Lesson Planning

Follow your plan to make an outfit using some of the skill learnt during this topic; adapt and alter as you encounter unforeseen problems.

Teaching Outcomes:

  • Follow a design brief and make an outfit while continuing to develop and showcase their practical skills, including sewing, embroidery, cutting, fabric dying.

Children will:

  • Understand the design brief and follow their plan to make an outfit.
  • Showcase some of the skills they have learnt throughout the topic.
  • Select material based on their aesthetic qualities.
  • Understand that their original design may have to be altered if they encounter unforeseen problems.
