Objectives

Design and Technology

  • Use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose and aimed at particular individuals or groups.
  • Generate, develop, model and communicate ideas through discussion, annotated sketches, cross-sectional and exploded diagrams, prototypes, pattern pieces and computer-aided design.
  • Select from and use a wider range of materials and components, including textiles, according to their functional properties and aesthetic qualities.

Art

  • Improve mastery of art and design techniques including painting and sketching.

Lesson Planning

Work on the sketches for your outfit designs; consider the materials available including recycled materials; think about how you will join materials and choose your final outfit design.

Teaching Outcomes:

  • Generate annotated sketches of outfits that are fit for purpose according to the design brief.

Children will:

  • Sketch and colour a range of different outfit designs.
  • Consider the materials that are available, including recycled materials.
  • Label the materials they will use and indicate how they will join them together.
  • Choose the final design for their outfit.
