Lesson Planning

Find out about the history of Ramadan, the period of fasting in the Islamic calendar, and the festival at the end of Ramadan known as Eid al-Fitr. Make some traditional Eid food.

  • To make some traditional Eid al-Fitr foods.

  • Explain the reason for fasting in Islam.
  • Follow recipes.
  • Use a range of cooking techniques.

  • Recipe ingredients: dates, flour, icing sugar, butter, rosewater, milk, orange-blossom water, sugar, lemon juice, red food colouring, onion, minced lamb, parsley, mint, coriander, ground cumin, bread, cinnamon, all spice, pepper, salt, lentils, olive oil, garlic.
