Lesson Planning

Understand that the Ancient Egyptians worshipped many different gods & goddesses; plan, make and evaluate an Ancient Egyptian headdress.

Teaching Outcomes:

  • To understand that the Ancient Egyptians worshipped many gods and goddesses and that the gods and goddesses could be recognised by different symbols.
  • To plan and make an Ancient Egyptian headdress.

Children will:

  • Understand that the Ancient Egyptians worshipped many different gods & goddesses.
  • Describe the headdresses of a range of gods and goddesses.
  • Plan and make an Ancient Egyptian headdress.
  • Evaluate their Ancient Egyptian headdress.

You Will Need

  • Thin card
  • Newspaper and watered down PVA glue for papier-mâché
  • Powder paints
  • Watered-down PVA for shiny effect
  • Materials to stick on, e.g. feather, corrugated card, aluminium foil, fabrics, wools, coloured straws
  • Masking tape
  • PVA glue
  • Aprons
