  • Explain and discuss their understanding of what they have read, including through formal presentations and debates, maintaining a focus on the topic and using notes where necessary.
  • Provide reasoned justifications for their views.

Lesson Planning

Invite another class, the whole school or even parents and governors to see your museum, and hold a debate on who should own the marbles.

Teaching Outcomes:

  • To use their historical knowledge to back up arguments in a debate
  • To take part in a debate about whether the British Museum's Marbles should be returned to Greece.

Children will:

  • Deploy historical knowledge in a debate.
  • Take part in a debate.
  • Organise their arguments and justify their arguments.
