Lesson Planning

Look closely at yourself, colour mix paint to create a realistic self-portrait, Guess Who? Research your family to discover interesting facts/stories that ‘flavour’ your life.

Teaching Outcomes
To mix paint colours that represent individual’s skin tone and hair colour; to create a realistic self-portrait.
To begin research of children's own family’s story.
To learn about different families’ stories and cultural traditions.

Children will:

  • Paint a realistic full-length self portrait.
  • Increase self-knowledge of their own family and their story, culture and traditions.
  • Develop tolerance, harmony and respect between different people groups
