Objectives

Geography

  • Use world maps, atlases and globes to identify the United Kingdom and its countries, as well as the countries, continents and oceans studied at this key stage.

SMSC

  • Enable students to acquire a further tolerance and harmony between different cultural traditions by enabling students to acquire an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures.

PE

  • Participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending.

Lesson Planning

Learn what life is like for children in different countries of the Commonwealth. Try playing some of the games that originate in Commonwealth countries.

Teaching Outcomes
To find out about the countries that make up the Commonwealth.
To learn about different cultures and traditions.
To participate in team games.

Children will:

  • Locate the countries of the Commonwealth on a world map.
  • Learn and participate in different playground games from other Commonwealth countries.

You Will Need

  • A large scale map of the world
