Objectives

Day 1

  • Revise equivalent fractions.
  • Use the inverse relationship between multiplication and division to support calculation of missing numbers in pairs of equivalent fractions.

Day 2

  • Compare and order fractions with unrelated denominators.

Day 3

  • Use tables facts to find fractions of amounts.

Lesson Planning

Day 1
Revise short division.

Timed: 5mins. [PowerPoint Slide 2]

Each student will need their copy of the Skill Drill Record Sheet [see below, to be printed for any new students/ lost sheets].

Day 2
Practise finding the missing number in a pair of equivalent fractions. [PowerPoint Slide 2] Timed: 5mins

Day 3
Practise comparing fractions. Students will need to refer to Resources: Day 1-3
