Objectives

Day 1

  • Multiply and divide numbers by 10 and 100 to give decimals and to turn decimals into whole numbers.

Day 2

  • Round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.

Day 3

  • Round one-place and two-place decimals to the nearest whole number.

Lesson Planning

Day 1
Revision of -expressing tenths and hundredths as fractions and decimals.

Timed: 5mins. [PowerPoint Slide 2]

Each student will need their copy of the Skill Drill Record Sheet [see below, to be printed for any new students/ lost sheets].

Reminder needed? Revisit the number lines from last time [see today’s Slide 19].

Day 2
Practise multiplying and dividing numbers by 10 and 100. [PowerPoint Slide 2] Timed: 5mins

Don’t forget to ask students to complete their Skill Drill Record Sheet.

Day 3
Practise rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100, giving ranges of numbers that will round to given values.
