More about Topics
What are these? Our Topics provide a means of engaging in creative topic-based teaching, whilst sustaining the rigour, progression and coverage in each NC subject area required by OFSTED and others. The first Hamilton Topics (KS1) were launched in July '05 and we added to these over that summer. The first LKS2 Topic was added early in the November '05 and in August '06 the first UKS2 topic was launched. There are now 13 KS1, 11 LKS2 and 10 UKS2 Topics. We have many more topics planned as we build towards a set of at least twelve for each age range.
Flexibility and choice are the keys to truly creative teaching, and so we have used a data-based system, similar to Mix’n’Match, whereby teachers select individual sessions, addressing objectives from one or two subject areas, and - informed by the database - are then able to plan and teach a progression of topic-focussed activities in each subject. These Topics provide a wholly new and vastly timesaving means whereby creative teaching and a topic-focus go hand in hand with automatic National Curriculum-based record keeping and, IMPORTANTLY, still Saving Sundays!
The free Science Strands are also found in the Topics section of our site. They operate in same way as the Topics, though each strand has only one Theme.
Payment - Due to lack of funds we are unable to provide this completely original and amazingly powerful resource free. However, a mere £39.99 (ex VAT) per year secures unlimited access to one age range of topics, plus all the automatic record-keeping and the 'planning on-line' facilities. You thought weekly plans saved time – try these! Please click here to find out more.
