Planning Guidance – Primary Strategy
The Primary Strategy includes advice for teachers on planning, and also guidance for head teachers and senior managers on supporting their teachers’ planning. This document, which has been approved by OFSTED, QCA and the TTA, specifies that teachers are perfectly entitled to start with an adaptable plan rather than the famous ‘blank sheet’. As the Planning Guidance makes clear, it is the quality of teaching and learning – i.e. the creativity, originality and clear learning focus exemplified by the pupils’ activities as well as the teaching – that is important. Where the plan comes from and how it is adapted to be suitable for the particular classroom are relevant to its genesis, and therefore teacher workload, but not to the final outcomes.
To download this part of the Primary Strategy, either right-click the link and save to your computer or left-click and view (you will need Adobe Acrobat). It may be a part of the Primary Strategy that you wish to pass on to others.
In addition, you can also download the results of our SOS Survey from 2004 that details exactly how the plans are used across the country and the comments about them. |
